Thr Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said the through the help of the media through awareness creation , Nigeria has been able to subdue the Boko Haram terrorists, and many other successes,including winning the war against the recent Covid -19 pandemic.
Alhaji Laid Mohammed stated this while presenting the achievement of his ministry in the ongoing 26th edition of President Mohamadu Buhari Administration Scorecard in Abuja.
According to him, the information ministry used the various media houses and platforms in creating awareness on specific issues including the National Campaign Against fake news; National Campaign for Patronage of Made in Nigeria products and National Campaign for the Support of military.
Lai Mohammed said great efforts were made towards the success of the Anchor Borrowers programme, adding that part of the success stories was the rise in rice export by 90 percent. He stated that the ministry took not less than 30 journalists Kebbi to tour rice farms at the commencement of the programme.
Alhaji Laid Mohammed who noted that his ministry played great role in checking fake news ,however admitted that the nation missed deadline for migration from analogue and digital broadcasting.
