Labour Party Supporters To Be Protected On Election Day By International Security Forces

Lagos electorates in Lagos State have been urged not to be afraid to come out on election day to exercise their voting right as the authorities are working to ensure adequate security before ,during and after the election.

The Secretary of Labour Party, LP, in the state Mr. Sam Okpala made the call during an interactive session with leaders of Peter Obi support groups at the new LP secretariats on Oduduwa Way, Ikeja.

He noted that the authorities at the federal level were determined to ensuring free and fair election ,and putting the necessary measures in place including security to make that happen.

According to him, the Federal government has decided to use only the police in the forthcoming election.

Okpala encouraged Lagosians to feel free to report any cases of harassment and threats to their lives to the “Police Control Room” to get immediate help.

He pointed out that their party was aware of alleged harassment of the party’s supporters in the state and had reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to do the needful.

Mr. Okpala said in confidence that both the IGP and international security forces would do everything possible to protect the people ,especially supporters of opposition parties

He however advised everyone to be law abiding and not constitute nuisance on the day of the election.

Mr. Okpala also called on the electorates to play their role in ensuring peaceful as well as free and fair election by being on ground to secure their votes.

He urged them against selling their votes adding that voting wisely to Peter Obi and his running mate should be adopted by all to redeem the country.
