NiMet Releases 2023 Rainfall Prediction Tuesday In Abuja

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet,will today, Tuesday 24th January 2023 unveil its annual seasonal climate prediction in Abuja.

The yearly publication contains detailed forecast of climatic and weather pattern across the country for this year.

The advisory is majorly beneficial to weather dependent sectors and endeavours such as aviation, construction, business,health and particulary, agriculture with predictions on the onset and ceasation of rainfall as well as dry spells to help farmers prevent crop loss and achieve good harvest.

The publication is also expected to include likely flooding occurences with specific locations accross the country.

The Director Deneral of NIMET Professor Mansur matazu told journalits yesterday, in Abuja that this year’s publication would go beyond weather prediction to include impact of extreme weather conditions on livelihoods and sections of the country.

This year’s Seasonal Climate Prediction, is themed:”Strengthening Climate Risk Early Warning Services for Improved Food Security and Disaster Risk Reduction in Nigeria”.
