Nigeria Faces FIFA Ban Over Death Of Official In Post-Match Violence

Going by FIFA rule, Nigeria may be banned from participating in future football competitions, following the death of an official in a violence that erupted after yesterday’s World Cup Qualifying match between the Super Eagles and Black Stars of Ghana.

Nigerian fans had invaded the pitch after the 1:1 draw which gave Ghana advantage over Nigeria.

As a result of the violence, players and officials had to run for their lives into the changing room.

In the process, FIFA Doping Control Officer, Dr. Joseph Kabungo reportedly did not make it alive.

He was said to had suffered a cardiac arrest amidst the commotion and later pronounced dead.

Dr. Kabungo, a CAF medical committee member was recently appointed to the FIFA medical Committee , having previously served as the Zambian team doctor from 2003 to 2016
