Information made available to Buzzministry News-Desk has it that
the Comptroller of Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, Mrs Lizzie Ekpendu has been redeployed.
It is possible her redeployment followed the wild agitations that greeted the Miss Cell 2022 Beauty Pageant organised by the facility under her watch, in which a murder suspect, Chidimma Ojukwu won.
The pageant was held on March 8, by the prison authorities to commemorate the International Women’s Day.
Chidimma is being held for alleged murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga. Shortly after her photos surfaced online, wearing her crown ,a lot of people were moved to anger as they queried the morality in crowning her beauty queen with the weighty murder accusation on her neck. They also said it depicted insensitivity to the family of the bereaved Super TV Boss.
Mrs Ekpendu, was subsequently redeployed last week.
A source, who spoke to vanguard confirmed that Mrs Ekpendu was redeployed to the Lagos Command Headquarters, Alagbon, Ikoyi.
“I can confirm to you that Mrs Ekpendu, the Comptroller of Kirikiri Female Prison has been redeployed to the Lagos Command Headquarters, Ikoyi. She has been replaced by another senior female officer.”
