Lagos Begins 2022 Free Rabies Vaccination

The Lagos State Government has commenced the annual anti rabies campaign and free vaccination exercise with a ceremony at the Oniru Palace on Victoria Island.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya who kicked off the exercise reiterated that though rabies is 100% fatal, it is preventable through the vaccination of dogs.

Ms. Olusanya explained further that vaccination of dogs and other pets is the most cost effective strategy for preventing rabies while it will also interrupt its transmission.

The Commissioner appealed to pet owners to bring their dogs and cats for the vaccination exercise, stressing that the State Government as a responsive Government has made the exercise free of charge for Lagosians.

In his goodwill message, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Gbolahan Lawal commended the State government for the exercise and promised his unalloyed support in promoting government programmes whenever called upon.
