Reps Holds Public Hearing On Exempting Police From Contributory Pension Scheme

The House of Representatives has fixed February,22 to hold a Public Hearing for an Act to amend the Pension Reform Act, 2014 to provide for exemption of the Nigerian Police Force from the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The House made this known in a letter addressed to the National Coordinator, Nigeria Police Retirees.

This is part of the ongoing process by the Federal Government to enhance the living conditions of police officers through increased salaries and other emoluments.


Also contained in the letter is announcement of Public Hearing same day, for an amendment that will provide that pensioners shall receive at least 75% of their retirement benefits immediately upon retirement.

This amendment if carried out will criminalise undue delay in the payment of pension.
