Nigeria Modern Rail Coaches Enter Advertising Market

With the gradual revamp of the rail transportation system in Nigeria, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, says it has explored commercial utilization of its assets within and around railway terminals, Coaches and on its right of way through advertising, hence the need to collaborate with advertising firms to provide Marketing services.

The Managing Director of NRC, Mr. Fidet Okhiria, who was represented by the Corporation’s Director of Operations, Mr. Niyi Alli, noted that, aside the Corporation’s core business of providing train services to Nigerians, the rail transport system also remains a viable platform for brands to reach their target audience.

Mr. Fidet Okhiria, added that railway transportation connectivity in various parts of the country would create lots of opportunities for Nigerian advertisers which in turn is expected to generate revenue for the rail sector.

Responding, Head of Operations of an Advertising consultancy firm, Mr.Temitope Ayanbade, noted that Train station advertising opportunities exist in many train stations across the world and delivers high engagement and high impact advertising to a more receptive audience.

According to Mr. Ayanbade, advertisers are beginning to see the various platform in the rail transport sector as another viable way to reach their target audience.

The event held at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station in Lagos marked the formal launch of Railway advertising in Nigeria.
