Good Shepherd Community Kicks-Off 21 Days Annual Fasting And Prayer Programme

Prayer Programme

The Good Shepherd Community, Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Saint Monica’s Catholic Church, Maza-Maza in Amuwo Odofin Local Government of Lagos State, today began its ”Beginning the year with the Lord”, Annual Fasting and Prayer Programme aimed at preparing as well as empowering the people spiritually and otherwise for greater exploit in the new year

Starting with a Holy Mass, the first day of the programme saw participants praising and worshipping God like never before for granting them life and good health to partake in this year’s event.

The praise and worship ministry came prepared as they rendered melodious songs that put participants in high spirit.

In a talk with the theme, “we trust in the power of the Lord”, the Associate Parish Priest, the Reverend Father Kingsley Agada advised that all should keep their hands clean, be nice to one another, and trust totally in God in order to prosper this year.

Father Agada said, unlike deities and humans that fail because they are highly limited, God is so powerful and will do everything for those who put all their trust in him.

According to him, “We have a God that is so powerful and loves us so much that he even raises the dead to life. Our God is so powerful that he can do all things.

“Keep your hands clean, be faithful to God. When faced with situations of life, pray to God, he will deliver you.

“Many of us will struggle and think it is in our intelligence or power to succeed in business, studies, and other endeavours.

“We have seen so many people who have read too much yet failed exams. It is not by your power.

“Not by your might, but by the spirit of the living God.

“He only needs our effort. Let us not make it as if it is in our efforts. Its not by you. It is God that has done it”.

Speaking further on how the people should live their lives for a more successful and rewarding 2022, Father Agada reiterated that all needed to reflect on their activities last year, identify their mistakes and find a way of making amends.

He said, “the year 2022 has begun in earnest. Have you sat down and reflected on last year. How did I do? Did I fair well?

” Our spiritual life is both vertical and horizontal. Vertical is with God. Are you allowing God into your life? Horizontal is a relationship with fellow human beings. Relate well with others

“Because you put all your trust in God, he will come and solve all our problems

“I encourage you today, trust in the Lord.
“He wants us to trust only in Him. Do good at all times and you will see the power of God active and alive in your life. This is my prayer for you this year, that the power of God will continue to work in your life and give you victory”.

The Community Coordinator, Brother Innocent Odo who moderated the session urged participants to try their best to attend Mass and fast as well as study the daily reflections throughout the 21 days to derive the full benefits of the programme.

He also enjoined participants to “invite you neighbours and friends. The more the merrier”, he added.

A release by the Service Team says, Beginning the year with the Lord is a 21 days revival and restoration programme “designed to help you review your activities, relationship, challenges, achievements, etc within the previous year in order to reposition yourself for the year that is just beginning, making necessary amendments that will guarantee your good success, spiritually or materially in the current year.

“This is also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the Lord and to submit everything concerning us, our spiritual lives, families, health, business, jobs, studies, projects, and aspirations for this year to God.

“This programme ushered in blessings and open doors to numerous children of God that participated in it the previous year. More blessings await you as you embark on this spiritual journey. As God rains his blessings on you, please do not forget to share your testimonies with us”.

Ministers from far and near would be invited to give talks every day till the end of the programme on Sunday 6th February, 2022.
