A call has been made to members of the public to take part in the commemoration of the 2023 World Clean-up Day on Tuesday, 19th September 2023.

TotalEnergies and the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) are jointly organising clean-up activities in three locations across Nigeria, namely Lagos, Benin, and Kano to mark the day.

A release by the Communications Manager of NCF, Mr. Oladapo Soneye calls for volunteers who he said can join in the clean-up exercise at locations closer to them.

It says, “Hello environment protector, here comes another opportunity to nurture the environment as we commemorate the World Clean-up Day.

TotalEnergies & NCF are inviting you to join in the activity at any of the locations in *Lagos, Benin & Kano* on Tuesday.”

Soneye enjoins interested to ” kindly reach out to me for further information”.

The World Clean-up Day is being commemorated in line with the global target of making ecosystems healthy for the thriving of biodiversities.

The World Cleanup Day is usually celebrated every third Saturday in September by bringing together people worldwide to clean up and care for their communities.

It is an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris.

Some incorporate waste mapping in their activities.

Environmental cleanup events are held in nearly every country until concluding near the international date line in Hawaii and American Samoa.

The World Clean up Day is coordinated by the global organization Let’s Do It! which has its headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia.
