A two day journalism training for French students in the University of Lagos, UNILAG commenced on Friday.
The event was put together by MAISON TV5MONDE, a French language and cultural centre in the Department of French, UNILAG.
Organised as part of activities making the 2023 World Radio Day, the training programme is to expose some French students to the basics of journalism.
In his remark, the Director of the centre, Eric koufedji Ducrost who spoke in French welcomed the participants and urged them to make maximum use of the training.
Ducrost expressed his unflinching commitment to the spreading of the French Language in Nigeria, while helping French students with passion in becoming media professionals to achieve their goals.

He said, ”The objective of the programme is to promote the World Radio Day. Maison TV5Monde organised the event in collaboration with two journalists from two different media houses”.
One of the facilitators, Tosin Adeyemi, a producer and anchor at News Central TV, advised the participants on the need to be passionate ,intentional about everything they do and try as much as possible to be verstile.
Adeyemi who urged them to continously improve themselves, said taking professional programmes would be a wise decision to be more successful in the industry.
On his part, another facilitator, Innocent Onoh from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigerian, FRCN, challenged the participants to aim to be the best , adding that every journalist must development his or herself to be extraordinary in order to succeed in the present day media industry.
According Onoh to be a good journalist, one must have good writing skills, be critical in thinking, have the hunger for news, have the burning desire tell good stories, among other qualities.
The first day of the training programme which was as held at the Maison TV5Monde centre, in UNILAG focused mainly on theory, with the participants demonstrating strong commitment towards learning.
Practical aspect of the training will hold the next.
Among the participants were Ogianyo Emmanuella, Ade-Akanbi Elizabeth Melody,
Alabi Favour Temidayo, Aderinola Adeogun,
Iheaka-Orji Joy Ijeoma and Byam-Cooke Onyebuchim.
They will be given certificate at the end of the training on Saturday.
