FG Rejects Proposal For Creation Of New Agency

The Federal Government has rejected a proposal for the creation of National Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies.

Part of the objectives of the proposed agencies is to monitor and evaluate Federal Government projects.

But it was rejected on the ground that the mandate of the proposed institution was already being executed by other bodies, hence its establishment would amount to duplication of roles.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Haja Zainab Ahmed, argued this at the opening session of the Dialogue on the National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy and Women’s Economic Empowerment at the State House, Abuja.

Haja Ahmed was responding to earlier remarks by Prof. Dung Pam Sha, who represented the Director-General of the NIPSS, Kuru, Plateau State, Prof Don Pasha.
