CBN Extends Deadline For Old Notes Phase-Out To February 10

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the deadline for the use of the old notes till February 10.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, announced the extension in a statement signed a while ago and released in Abuja.

He explained that the apex bank has sought approval from President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the deadline for the use of the old notes by 10 days.

Recall that the Presidential candidate of the all Progressives Congress (APC) , Bola Ahmed Tinubu after raising alarm that the naira redesigning policy of the Federal Government was a ploy to rubbish his political ambition, visited president Buhari in Katsina with a few of his allies.

Details of the visit have not been officially made known ,but sources said it was to prevail on Buhari to mandate CBN to extend the deadline for phase out of the newly redesigned #200,#500 and #1000.

It has been rumoured that the APC presidential candidate known popularly as “Jagaban” has billions of naira starched in his house for execution of his presidential ambition.
