Bauchi’s New Health Commissioner Pledges To Reposition The Sector

The newly sworn in Commissioner of Health in Bauchi state, Dr. Sabi’u Abdu Gwalabe has expressed determination to reposition the state’s health sector with new ideas in consonance with global best practice.

Dr. Sabi’u Gwalabe who gave the indication today while assuming the mantle of leadership, said the deteriorating maternal and child mortality indicators were worrisome, hence the need put necessary measures in place to reverse the ugly trend.

While admitting to the shortage of human resource in the state’s health sector, the Commissioner assured that Citizens health status would be taken to the next level owing to the present administration’s determination under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed.

He called on staff of the ministry to accord him the needed std5upport, cooperation and encouragement to enable him achieve the desired objective of improving the health sector.

The Commissioner who expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for finding him worthy, also commended the administration for the recent him and subsequent deployment of healthcare workers to various health facilities across the state.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ali Babayo assured the staff readiness to provide the new commissioner all the needed support to discharge his duties diligently.

Also Speaking, the State Chairman Nigeria Medical Association NMA, Dr Muhammad Bashir Faruk described the new commissioner as a dedicated and hardworking colleague who would no doubt bring positive changes to the health sector.

The event had in attendance, Directors and staff of the ministry, family and friends of the commissioner among others.
