Cross River PDP: Professor Sandy Onor Wins Gubernatorial Primaries

The Senator Representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Professor Sandy Onor, has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Gubernatorial Primaries in Cross River State.

Announcing the results of the election, Chairman of the party’s electoral committee in the state Babajide Coca said Professor Onor scored a total of two hundred and thirty-six delegate votes to defeat his closest rival, Senator Geshom Bassey, who scored one hundred and seven-five votes.

The primary election was contested by eight aspirants, including a serving member representing Akamkpa-Biase Federal Constituency, Mr Daniel Asuquo, A seasoned technocrat, Sir Author Jarvis Archibong, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, among others.

One of the aspirants and former Deputy Governor in the state, Mr Effiok Cobham had earlier announced his withdrawal from the race, stating that his decision was borne out of deep personal consideration on the situation.

The PDP Primary Election was reportedly delayed owing to logistics.
