Lagos Collapsed Building Update: 3 Dead,5 Rescued Alive

As search and rescue operations have been completed, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says three dead bodies have been recovered in the collapsed four storey building at 4 Alayaki Lane, Lagos Island on Saturday, 21st May, 2022.

LASEMA disclosed this in a “Preliminary report” signed by its

PS , Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

The report says five victims were rescued alive.

It reads, “Rtuation Report on Collapsed 4 Floor Building at 4 Alayaki Lane, Lagos Island on Saturday, 21st May, 2022.

“The Agency responded to the above incident which was already in violation of building safety protocols. It was discovered that the building had been captured by the LASBCA District Office and served with all Statutory Notices, Sealed at District and Central Enforcement Level.

“Further investigation determined that the developer had continued clandestine operations mostly at night and at the weekends.
