The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has confirmed the discovery of a mangled human body on the runway of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
An investigation has commenced to unravel the identify of the deceased and the cause of the incident.
The body according to a statement by the spokeswoman for FAAN, Mrs. Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, the an unidentified human remains was found on Runway 18R/36L on Thursday, May 19, 2022.
She says, the remains of the unidentified mangled body was discovered by a motorized cleaner, that was cleared to carry out a derruberization and sweeping of the runway at about 0106hours, and escalated the situation to relevant departments.
Explaining further, Mrs. Hope-Ivbaze says, as a result, between 0110 and 0343 hours, the runway was temporarily closed to allow for immediate evacuation of the remains while flight operations resumed at 0343 hours.
