“On behalf of our team in NBC Lagos Zone, we truly welcome you to Lagos and assure you that we will continue to maintain fruitful relationship with you to move the broadcast industry forward.

Dr. Ogwumike pointed out that it is common knowledge that most of the big names in the broadcast Industry started from Radio Nigeria, which makes it imperative for the corporation to continuously strive to maintain high standards so that others will emulate.

“We expect that FRCN should know it all because they are the training Institution when it comes to broadcasting, that others must surely emulate”

He said as the General election draws near, the NBC will team up with Radio Nigeria Lagos in building the competence of reporters and presenters for them to comply with the codes on election reporting.

Responding, Mrs. Owoyemi stated that the visit marked the commencement of her consultations with stakeholders, which is necessary having just relocated to Lagos as the Director of Lagos Operations.

“On behalf of the DG , Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Liman, the management of Lagos Operations from the stable of Bond 92.9 FM, Metro FM 97.7 and Radio One 103.5 FM ,I have brought you greetings. I want to thank you for the warm reception. Our visit here could have been held before now, but considering the fact that immediately I came in, we started the promotion interview, that made it impossible for me to come.

“This courtesy visit is holding in-spite of your very busy schedule, you still granted us the opportunity to come. This is because of the relationship that we have over the years. Since I came in, it’s been so many internal affairs, external affairs and traveling outside Lagos. NBC is my first point of call since I assumed office in Lagos State. I am particularly happy to be here again”.

She said the management was fully aware of the enomous demand on Radio Nigeria, being the flagship of broadcasting in Nigeria, and would do anything necessary to live up to that expectation.

Mrs. Owoyemi while observing that the broadcast standards were waning with the proliferation of broadcast stations, commended the NBC for working exceedingly hard to register it’s presence in all the stations.

This she stated has made it necessary more than ever as the general election draws near.
