The Lagos State Cooperative College, LASCOCO, says it is developing an auditing software for use by cooperative societies in the State.
The Provost, Mr Akorede Ojomu made this known during an interactive session with newsmen after a Thanksgiving service at Christ The light Chapel, Alausa, Ikeja yesterday (Sunday) as part of activities marking the maiden convocation of the College’s Professional Diploma Programme.
Mr Ojomu who explained that one hundred and four persons would be awarded professional diploma certificates during the graduation pointed out that specialized training of the graduands and the auditing software are part of efforts to check fraudulent practices in the cooperative sector.
On the achievements of the College, which can now be selected by students sitting examination by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Mr Ojomu, stated that the College would be taking advantage of the maiden convocation to consolidate it’s position.
The Provost said arrangements are also been made to expand the operations of the College by moving it to a larger ground which will serve as it’s permanent site to enable it benefit maximally from its association with the United Kingdom Cooperative College, a foremost British institution that has been in existence for over a hundred years and is well reputed for its rich heritage of cooperative education, training, practice, research, values and principles.
