Police Arrests Suspected Vandals Of Rail Infrastructures In Oyo

Two suspected Vandals’ who are part of a gang that specialise in rail line vandalism are now cooling their heels under the watch of the police authority in Oyo State.

The suspects, Ibrahim Saidu 20 years old, and Muritala Abdullahi, 30 years old, were caught with 34 railroad clips, a hacksaw and damaged rail instruments.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, said the vandals were arrested last Friday at about 6.30pm while in the act at Ile-Esho Area, Omi-Adio in Ido local government area of the state.

He said the suspects confessed to the crime and had been cooperating with on-going investigation aimed at arresting other members of the gang.

It would be recalled that the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, Mr. Fidet Okhiria, raised concern over the continued vandalisation of rail equipment across the country, describing the act as sabotage.

Mr. Okhiria, said measures are being put in place to safeguard the facilities against vandals.
